Napping Expert

Patches knows how to nap well.  She is the expert.  She can teach younger cats how to do it because she is so experienced!

Napping on a soft cushion on the patio is just the right thing to do on this day.

Uh oh! I think I disturbed her. Her eyes are starting to open. I don’t want to have her lose her concentration.

Napping does take lots of concentration.  I guess that’s one of the things she would teach kittens.

Queen of the Penthouse

The cat tree with the “penthouse” at the top has been here since Patches was a small kitten.  She has definitely “grown” into it.  And, of course, it’s one of her favorite places to take her afternoon nap.

Patches Loves To Sunbathe

The patio is very sunny, since it faces south.  Patches is the only one of the three who likes to sunbathe, and the patio is perfect.

She’s feeling good right now, “soaking up” those UV rays through the tinted windows.

Patches Lets Rusty Share Her Favorite Napping Rug

Patches has sort of made her peace with little Rusty – at least – this time!  “Little” Rusty has a strong mind of his own, and maybe that’s what bothers Patches much of the time.

Well, I was able to catch those two napping together on Patches’ rug.

Patches has become aware that I’m standing there, taking photos.

Now, Rusty is aware of my presence.

Rusty has decided to close his eyes and go back to sleep. All is well.

Unlikely Nap Mates

Patches and Romeo are not “buddies,” but occasionally they surprise me with their activities.  I caught them together on the loveseat, and photographed them over several hours’ time as they changed positions.

 

Sleeping Buddies

This doesn’t happen very often, for two reasons:

1. Patches doesn’t get along too well with Rusty; and
2. It’s rare when I see them so close.

It’s probably due to their favorite place to sleep on Mom’s bed is RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE.

So, I guess they struck a deal for a “DMZ”!

My Loveseat Is No Longer Mine!!

 

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to sit on my loveseat (the most comfortable seat in the house), and there’s no room for me!

 

Rusty Gets Back To Sleep Slowly And Lazily

Rusty is a sweet baby.  Sleeps like a newborn sometimes.  Deeply.

Today, he fell asleep on the desk, and when I disturbed him by sitting at my (mine) desk, he moved, stretched and promptly went back to sleep – slowly and lazily.  But he got there.

 

Notice how the sun glints off his curly whiskers. If I wanted it to happen in the photo, it wouldn’t have. Happy accidents happen sometimes.

The Lure Of A New Box

A new box is definitely a new toy – a new discovery – a new secure place in which to get comfortable.

Romeo was the first one in the box. He took ownership.

Please, Romeo, let me have the box.

Rusty thought this was a good idea, but Romeo wasn’t giving “his” box up.

Now it’s Patches’ turn. It took a while, but she is the patient one.

I like the view from here.

This is beginning to feel really comfortable.

Patches was so comfortable in this box, that she took a long nap in it!
