We’re Down To One, Now

Hi Y’all!

It’s been a year.  We’re in full onslaught of COVID-19 pandemic.  So far, Rusty and I are well, and trying to keep our sanity (mine) during this medical and economic crisis.

Unfortunately, I lost my “Baby Girl” Patches.  She was 17 and one month old.  As described in my last posting, a year ago, she suffered with a few medical and physical problems.  She became progressively worse, and I knew I couldn’t put off the inevitable any longer.  It was time.

I called in a gentle, kind-hearted veterinarian who makes house calls, and he agreed we needed to end her suffering.  He came the next day, and we said a sad good-bye to the sweetest girl.

She wasn’t upset; in fact, I believe she knew.  She was relaxed,  I held her, petted her, and then she was gone.

Sorry to share this now – but I figured you all who have been such great bloggers and friends who  have looked in to this blog on occasion, over the years, should know what happened.

Thank you so much.

Flat Face Rusty

Rusty belongs to the breed known as “Exotic Shorthair.”  It’s an official CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) name for this breed of cats that originated from the Persians by way of a genetic mutation many, many years ago.

One of the distinguishing features of these cats is their broad, flat face and small ears.  This is the first time I was able to capture Rusty’s phenomenal facial side view.

Is Patches Playing Hide and Seek?

As I was walking past the guest room, I noticed paws protruding from under the bed.  Quietly, I got my camera, hoping I wouldn’t miss something “important.”

Sure enough, all was the same when I got back.

It was after I photographed Patches' paws, that I noticed Rusty was there, also.

Hello, Rusty. It's nice of you to keep Patches company.

Aww. Aren't you sweet?

Not to be outdone, Romeo had to come and see what was happening in there.

During all the activity, Patches remained under the bed, undisturbed.

Trying To Solve A Mystery

I walked into the bathroom the other evening, and found Rusty sitting on the edge of the bathtub, fixated on something outside on the other side of the glass blocks.  Since it was nighttime, I couldn’t see what had caught his attention, but it probably was a lizard.  After all, we have plenty of them here in South Florida, and was attracted to the light from inside.

mysteryAs usual, I grabbed my camera to get some shots while he was continuously following whatever was outside.

Evidently, the lizard moved across the window, and of course, Rusty followed it to the other side of the tub.

Oops! It looks like the lizard moved to the other side again. What a tease it is. I'm sure it knows that Rusty would love to play with it.

I enjoy watching Rusty enjoy himself.  He’s such a pleasure!!

My Cooking Supervisor

Rusty follows his Mom all over the house.  He loves to be near when I’m in the kitchen, fixing some food for myself on the counter.  He makes himself very comfortable on the bar overlooking the counter.  He usually supervises, but this time, he kind of dozed off.  That’s OK.  I can manage without his help this time.

How Am I Supposed To Do Any Work Here?

My cats, Patches, Rusty and Romeo, love to keep me company when I’m in the office, working on my computer.  All work has to stop when all three decide to keep me company at the same time.

Cats And Computers

I’m on the computer every day, spending lots of time doing “my thing.”  And, many times, either Patches, Rusty or Romeo – or any combination thereof – will be keeping me company.

Today, I’m posting about two of my favorites – pussycats and computer – and show you what happens when the two are combined.

Rusty’s Begging/Submission Position

Whenever Rusty wants to be petted, he flops down wherever he might be and “assumes the position.”  What a guy!

Patches and Mom Kind Of Got Carried Away

Patches likes to approach me while she’s on the kitchen counter near my table.  She knows she will get lots of petting.  And she does!  And she PURRS!!  She is so lovable and sweet.

I kind of get carried away as I’m taking photos.  So, please just breeze through them.  I won’t be insulted – ha.
