The Watering Hole

Several years ago, I read many articles about pet water fountains.  I learned that it is healthier for our pets (dogs and cats) to drink their water from a fountain instead of a bowl.

There are several reasons for this:

  • Water that moves is sure to remain cleaner;
  • When water stands, it becomes vulnerable for dirt (fur, etc.,) to accumulate at the top and possibly cause intestinal problems;
  • Any impurities that might stay on top of the water are brought down into the filter which does a great cleaning job;
  • The moving water more easily attracts our pets to come and drink;
  • It has been observed that pets drink more water from a fountain by visiting the fountain more frequently than a bowl;
  • More than one pet can drink from the fountain at a time;
  • The water is aerated which brings more oxygen into the fountain water.  It is a fact that oxygenated water is healthier.

Getting more oxygen in the blood will actually give us more energy and allow us and our pets to be more active for a longer period of time.

After reading what a difference a water fountain would make in greater health for my cats, I ordered one right away.  Caring for the fountain is not difficult – just takes a little more time and effort than washing out a bowl every so often, but the rewards are worth it for my cats.  Also, it gives me peace of mind, knowing I’m doing the best I can to give them the best possible chance for a healthier life.

Finicky-est Cat Ever!

As cat lovers, we know how finicky our babies can be when it comes to what they prefer to eat.

I have never heard about, nor experienced before, cats preferring one BOWL over another.  Hello!  Patches is the finicky-est cat ever!

She looks quite dejected here in this photo.  Rusty got to the feeding station first, and wouldn’t you know?  He made himself very comfortable at the bowl Patches was going towards.  He practically pushed her out of his way!!

Finicky Patches is awaiting her turn at her PREFERRED bowl!

My Loveseat Is No Longer Mine!!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to sit on my loveseat (the most comfortable seat in the house), and there’s no room for me!

Box In A Box

The other day, I put a couple of boxes into the laundry room; the purpose being to bring them into the garage the next time I go in there.

Before I knew it, Romeo was making himself very comfortable – wedging between the little box and the wall of the larger one.  HURRY AND GET THE CAMERA, CAROL!

Before I knew it, Patches made herself known:

No, Patches decided to not go into the box.  Not enough room, I guess.  Besides, Romeo had made the original claim and sweet Patches wouldn’t DREAM of bothering him.

If you read my “About” page, you will see the reason Romeo came into our family.  It turned out so well!

Ready For The Night

Pussycats3 cats do not spend the night with their Mom.  They spend it in the master bathroom.

You might ask, “Why?”

There are several reasons:

  • Mom likes to get a good (if possible) night’s sleep, undisturbed;
  • Mom doesn’t want to get up in the middle of the night and step into a mess on the floor;
  • Mom doesn’t want to hear someone throwing up on the bed;
  • Mom doesn’t want to hear heavy feet running through the house;
  • Mom doesn’t want to hear something crashing on the floor during the night;
  • Mom doesn’t want someone pulling off the covers;
  • Mom doesn’t want the box spring scratched up by someone’s claws;
  • Mom has a “captured audience” for morning grooming; and
  • Because of some other reasons I can’t think of right now.  That’s enough, right?

So, I captured each of them in their favorite pose just before I closed the door:

Patches already had some food, so she likes to ponder her image in the mirror. Typical female!

Romeo decided to be "King of the Mountain." He loves to "hang out" on top of the shower wall.

One of the most favorite poses for Rusty is at the food bowl. The bowl on the left is Romeo's. All 3 have their own bowls and they eat out of only theirs.
